Data Migration

Data migration is the process of transferring data between data storage systems, data formats or computer systems. A data migration project is usually undertaken to replace or upgrade servers or storage equipment, for a website consolidation, to conduct server maintenance, or to relocate data. The Acromove ServerPacktm is specifically designed to facilitate these projects and more.

Acromove and OSNexus have teamed up to offer the ultimate data migration appliance. The OSNexus QuantaStor Migration Edition (QME) is a ZFS software platform designed for high speed transport of file and block storage between cloud data centers and on-premise customer sites. QME has support for all major SAN/NAS protocols including iSCSI/FC and NFS/CIFS/SMB with encryption for data protection.

The ServerPacktm is our hyperconverged portable computing platform offering unparalleled performance in a rugged weathertight package that connects to any system using industry standard high speed data ports (10/40/56/100 GbE).

Besides the rapid transfer of large datasets, ServerPacktm has a lot of computing power to process data before it is moved. If you have a complex Hadoop network, an Apache MiNiFi node can be installed on ServerPacktm to organize data for more efficient migration into the data pool, controlled remotely from Hortonworks Horton Data Flow (HDF).

The Oil & Gas Industry has a major need to collect large datasets at drilling sites and move the data to an on-shore processing center. Modern drilling rigs are outfitted with multiple sensors collecting seismic, fluid, and meteorological readings and scans, not to mention camera footage. A large rig can generate over 1TB of data per day. Web connectivity is usually limited at these remote sites; satellite connections are extremely expensive. The ability, with ServerPacktm, to move up to 120TB of sensitive data is usually the most efficient method to get timely data back to headquarters for detailed analysis.
