Acromove’s new ThunderPack Crypto and Crypto+ combine AES-256 encryption and battery operation for a totally unique product destined to become the new standard for portable, high-capacity, secure digital storage.
Whenever recorded data is physically moved between locations it is a modern requirement that the files should be encrypted. Almost every RAID product with encryption currently available uses at best a USB 3.0 (5Gb/s) connection. Now, Acromove is offering an encrypted RAID with both Thunderbolt 3 (40Gb/s) and USB 3.1 (10Gb/s) ports creating the fastest, most secure method of recording and transporting high value data such as camera footage, legal documents, and financial information.
“The hardware-based encryption on ThunderPack Crypto means there is no hit to performance while providing the highest level of military-grade protection for your data”, states Acromove CTO Evangelos Achillopoulos. “Keys are created and managed by the owner, and without our CryptoKey inserted the data becomes invisible to prying eyes”.
AES-256 encryption is used to protect classified information as well as being the first publicly accessible and open cipher approved by the NSA for top-secret information. The Acromove CryptoKey has an embedded chip that matches up with the data stored on disk which means it is more secure than password-style keys that can be hacked using a keystroke logging virus. It cannot be copied, so it can’t be shared electronically.
The top-of-the-line ThunderPack Crypto+ also includes built-in Lithium Ion batteries and an external DC input connector. The batteries act as an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) that switch on automatically in case of AC power loss. The unit can run up to 6 hours on battery power while also powering a laptop through the Thunderbolt 3 connection. The external DC input supports a 120W solar panel to operate off the grid, as well as external packs like Anton Bauer’s Cine VCLX battery packs or even car batteries (with proper cables).
Each model includes Acromove’s patented shockproof 2.5” drive caddies that hold either HDDs or SSDs. They recommend Seagate laptop drives from 1TB to 5TB (up to 40TB raw total) for high capacity and low cost. When outfitted with SSDs, the performance is stunning with the Thunderbolt 3 interface, well over 2500 MB/s at RAID0. RAID5 and RAID6 can protect your data even if one or two drives fail. Using many drives at lower capacities also make it faster to recover your data if any get damaged.
Acromove will be at NAB 2018 in booth SL15107. More information is available at their web site https://acromove.natigon.gr and on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
